Having spent my first semester learning the basics of digital photography, I was eagerly awaiting an opportunity to put everything I had learned into practice. Visiting Spain turned out to be that opportunity! Whenever My mum and I went sightseeing in Spain I had my camera at the ready, just in case I saw something interesting. I didn't want to be caught off-guard; and although carrying a DSLR camera with you wherever you go can be exhausting, I don't regret one minute of it. It ended up paying off big time! Alcazaba ( Arabic for 'citadel') was our first stop. It's a fort that was built in the 11th century. We went all the way to the top - a half-hour trek up a steep hill - where the viewing point is. At some point, I had to take my shoes off so as to walk more easily. But in the end it was well worth it! The next day we toured the area around where we were staying in Estepona, which led us to Pepe Beach. Seeing as it was the Christmas season, it was deserted. Apart from a couple and their little boy, we were the only ones there. The following day we visited Ronda, a beautiful province in Málaga city. By this time, I'd already decided to spend more time experiencing everything rather than trying to capture it all, so I didn't take as many pictures here. But you can see a bit more of Ronda in the video below. 😉 We also spent some time in Marbella, a historically rich city which a few friends from Uni. had recommended that I visit while I was in Spain. And I'm so glad that we took their advice. Finally, on our last day in Spain, we spent some time touring Estepona which allowed me to take a few more pictures. We drove down to Gibraltar in the afternoon. We had hoped to see more of The Rock of Gibraltar itself and a bit of the city area, but were unable to due to time constraints. However, I still managed to capture a few pictures of it. Spain should definitely be on everyone's list of 'Places to Visit'. Words can't express how beautiful a country it is! So here are a few of the thousands of pictures - and a vlog - I took in Spain. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed capturing them! 😊 Before that, here are my *5 Tips For Planning A Christmas Visit to Southern Spain: 1. Pack some warm clothes. Even though it will probably be sunny in December, the weather isn't necessarily warm. 2. Hire a car if you can afford to. It's the easier - and possibly, the cheaper - way to get around if you plan on visiting many different cities in the area. 3. Consider renting a place while you're there instead of staying at a hotel, especially if you'll be there for a week or more. It's better value for money and gives you more control over how to spend your days without missing scheduled meals and events. 4. Make sure you carry some extra cash for souvenirs. There are so many beautiful ones to buy around here. 5. Plan a visit to Estepona Port. It's definitely worth seeing and a great backdrop for pictures.😉 - ✗O✗O.
