I turned 30 years old this year!🎉🎊 And when I think of how beautiful my birthday celebration turned out to be, I almost can't believe that I was actually considering not having a celebration at all... January was a rather challenging month, and by the time February came along I was in no mood to celebrate my birthday. Nevertheless, my family convinced me that I'd regret letting such a monumental birthday go by without at least doing something special for it. So, I eventually decided to celebrate it by spending my birthday weekend at Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi. I called the hotel ahead of time to inform them of my plans to celebrate my birthday there, and I had a lovely conversation with one of their staff members. He was extremely helpful and gave me a detailed list of what to expect during my stay at the hotel. He also informed me of how late I was allowed to cancel - in case something came up at the last minute. Closer to the date, I got a call from another member of staff confirming that our plans to stay at the hotel were still on; and on the day before my birthday, my sister, Rachel and I packed our bags and made our way to the hotel. We were greeted at the entrance with a glass of champagne and enjoyed it at the terrace before being taken upstairs to our room by a member of staff. The bedroom floor was beautifully decorated with red rose petals and the letters, ‘H.B.D’ were diagonally lined on the bed alongside more roses of different colours. It was a thoughtful gesture, to say the least, and was shortly followed by a delivery which included a bouquet of roses and a slice of cake that were brought to our room by a member of staff. Later, we made our way to the swimming pool and spent the afternoon there. We enjoyed treats from The Balcony Bar restaurant, which is located on the first floor of the hotel. The pool was quite busy when we arrived there, but guests slowly left as the day went on. The French fries and drinks from The Balcony Bar restaurant are reasonably priced and were both tasty and filling - so much so that we didn't really need to eat anything else until supper time. For dinner, we opted to dine at Lucca Restaurant which is located on the right-hand side of the hotel and away from the rest of the building. I had pasta and salmon, while Rachel had roasted potatoes and beef. We also had the sweetest red wine with our meal; and to my delight, the staff at Lucca Restaurant sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me when they brought me my dessert. The meals at Lucca Restaurant are a bit pricey, but I'd say it's definitely worth it if you're celebrating a special occasion. As if this special treatment wasn't enough, I got serenaded again at breakfast the following morning. The kitchen staff brought me another slice of cake and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me at our breakfast table. It was so unexpected that at first, I thought someone else was celebrating their birthday as well and that the singing was for them. Lol. We spent the afternoon by the swimming pool yet again, and for some reason, it wasn't as busy as the day before. We had lunch at The Balcony Bar restaurant again; seeing as we'd already checked out, we freshened up at the spa before leaving the hotel. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I highly recommend trying out Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi. To say that they go the extra mile to make your stay there enjoyable is an understatement. Their professionalism and hospitality are unmatched and I am already looking forward to going back there sometime soon.😊 If you're not yet convinced, have a look at some pictures and a vlog I took of our stay below.😉 - ✗O✗O.
