They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. Well, I'm not sure about that word count, but I'd certainly say that each picture has a story to tell...
This week on the blog I'm telling short stories of things that I'm grateful for through pictures that I've taken in the last couple of months. One of my keywords for 2019 is simplicity. And although we are mostly used to giving thanks for the big things that happen in our lives, I'm learning that there are many little, simple things to give thanks for on a daily basis as well. With that said, here are some of the things I've come to appreciate in the first quarter of the year...

![]() I was recently having a conversation with a friend about what my life was like a few years ago. And as the conversation progressed, I realized how much has changed since then. Although the conversation started off with me trying to encourage her, it ended up encouraging me! 😄 So many prayers I made in the past few years have been answered - even some that I don't remember saying out loud - and yet I hadn't realized this until we started talking about it. Apart from encouraging me, however, the conversation also ended up convicting me of something I didn't even know I had been doing until then... Being the organized person that I am, I had already planned out my entire summer holiday even before it began.
I was going to read as many books as I possibly could, visit a couple of places that I felt would challenge me creatively, and make it the most productive holiday I'd ever had. But right from the beginning, I could tell that things weren't going to go as planned... I was deleting old pictures from my camera the other day, when I came across this picture that I'd taken a while ago. Even though I hadn't noticed it before, it stood out to me this time round. For the first time I noticed how - without meaning to - I'd managed to capture everything in the frame out of focus except the rear-view mirror.
As I was admiring my unintentional photography skills, I couldn't help but wonder why I had never noticed that about the picture when I looked at it before - or rather why I was only noticing it now. I suspected that it had something to do with something that had been recently weighing heavily on my mind... |
