A TASTE OF HiltON HOSPITALITY

My mum came to visit me this summer, and while she was here we spent two nights at Hilton Hotel The Hague. The hotel is located only a tram ride away from Den Haag Centraal Station. After alighting at Dr. Kuyperstraat, which is the nearest tram stop to the hotel, we walked for about ten minutes to our destination.

As soon as we arrived, we checked in and were shown to our room shortly afterwards. The room we stayed in is quite spacious, especially for a room with two single beds. It also houses a big bathroom with a shower and a bath.

After we’d settled in, we decided to take advantage of the warm weather and went out to explore…

​Rarely do I get to explore Den Haag at a leisurely pace, as I’m always rushing from one place to another. But exploring the city with my mum gave me the opportunity to do things differently this time around…
I showed her some of the popular areas in the city, as well as some of the places my friends and I like to eat at or just spend some time together. It was lovely seeing this city that has become so familiar to me through her eyes.

The following day, we went on a boat tour of the city and both learnt quite a bit about its history. We were accompanied by some other tourists as well as some locals who were also taking advantage of the good weather. The boat ride lasted for quite some time; and along with the sights, we got to enjoy a stiff drink provided by our tour guide.
After the tour, we made our way back to the hotel and started getting ready for dinner. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant, Restaurant Pearl. It’s named after ‘The Girl with A Pearl Earring’, a popular oil painting by Dutch Golden age painter, Johannes Vermeer.
Mum had risotto for dinner, while I had a beef burger with a side of French fries. We enjoyed our meal and then went back to our room and spent the rest of the night watching ‘The 2017 IAAF World Championships’ – one of my mum’s favourite sporting events.
After breakfast the following morning, we left the hotel having had quite a memorable stay there.
