BEZUIDENHOUT food truck festival, 2018

​I came across the Bezuidenhout Food Truck Festival by chance in the summer of 2017.

​I was doing my grocery shopping when I saw a bright leaflet hanging on the notice board in the grocery store, advertising a food truck festival that would be taking place in early May, right in the area where I live - Bezuidenhout.
Needless to say, I was excited at the thought of attending. As it happens, my sister was visiting that summer, and so we decided to check it out together.
As we had other plans on the day that we decided to pass by the festival, we only stayed long enough to have a snack.
But this year, we decided to dedicate an entire afternoon to it.

​Despite it being late spring, it was a bit chilly outside. But we didn't let the weather get us down. In fact, it inspired us to order a warm snack from one of the food trucks. Last year, there was a food truck dedicated to Thai food, while another one was dedicated to tacos. This time round, there was even more of a variety.

​However, we stuck to what we know best.

My sister ordered Dutch frites from one of the food trucks, while I ordered a cheese burger. We shared them between ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed them. As we ate, we listened to the music playing from large speakers located in different parts of the allocated festival area. 

Located on the street across from where the festival was taking place was a row of stalls collectively referred to as the Homemade Market. Here, vendors sells homemade goods ranging from crockery to souvenirs. It's a great place to buy gifts for loved ones, especially if you're visiting The Hague or Netherlands from elsewhere.
When it got too chilly, we decided to head home - but not before we bought a bouquet of flowers for the vase on my bedroom desk.💐

​The Bezuidenhout Food Truck Festival is definitely worth checking out if you're in The Hague area during late spring. Not only will you enjoy some good food while you're there, but you can also shop for gifts and souvenirs at the Homemade Market as well.

With a budget of €15 for food and another €10 for a souvenir, you're bound to leave the festival not only with a satisfied belly but also with a decent gift for someone special - or for yourself. Don't be alarmed if the music playing in the background is occasionally interrupted. The organizers intentionally do this to share important announcements pertaining to the festival with the attendees. 

And if you still want to hang around The Hague afterwards, you can get a tram into the shopping area, Spui  from a tram stop a few minutes away from the festival location. There's even more to see and do there! 😉
