I have to admit: when I first heard of Mama Rocks, my first thought was, "What kind of a name is that for a restaurant?" Nevertheless, I was intrigued by it, and I was eager to try it out. 😊
Mama Rocks is the name of a mobile restaurant i.e. a food truck run by 2 siblings of Kenyan-Nigerian descent. It is quickly gaining popularity as the place to go to for delicious African style gourmet burgers and a unique variety of sides and drinks to boot.
Although it can occasionally be found in different spots - especially where large events are taking place - its main location is in a place called "The Yard" in Westlands, Nairobi.
My friend, Samantha and I were eager to find out what all the fuss was about, so we made plans to have lunch there one afternoon. 🍔🍔🍔
Right from the moment we walked into "The Yard" we fell in love with the place! 😍 The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, and we eagerly looked forward to experiencing every bit of it. 😃
We immediately made our way to the Mama Rocks food truck and said hello to the owners, and then started reading the menu. Everything sounded so good to our ears, that it took us quite a while to decide exactly what we wanted.
Eventually we made our decisions, and I let Samantha take care of our orders as I went to get us a table. The seats at The Alchemist - a bar and concert venue also located in "The Yard" - had caught my attention right from the moment we walked into the compound, and I was happy to learn that we were allowed to sit there while we ate.
I opted for one of the tables located right in front of the stage. They were hosting an event later that night, and I figured it would be nice to watch them setting up for it.
After Samantha had ordered, she joined me and we admired the place together, randomly pointing out different things that we each liked about it.
Shortly after, our drinks arrived. I had a Hibiskiss - real strawberry, pineapple juice and hibiscus sparkling cooler - while Samantha had Freshly Pressed Pineapple & Mint juice. Although they had ingredients that were familiar to us, they tasted different from what we're used to - which was a welcome change.
It didn't take long before our meals arrived, too. I ordered the Mango Maasai Mama Burger, while Samantha had the This Is Africa (TIA) beef burger - each of which came with Poppa's Poppin' Potato Persuasion fries. Each meal was served in a cute, little pink basket that added a nice touch to the whole Mama Rocks experience. 😊
As we ate we couldn't help but exchange comments on how good everything tasted! The fries were perfectly seasoned, and each bite of the burger had a way of melting in your mouth.
Even before we were done we were already planning what we'd order the next time we were there. 😄 To top it all off, the service we received at Mama Rocks was top of the charts, and the staff were so friendly - something that always leaves an impression on me. 😊
Needless to say, Mama Rocks was a good idea and is 100% worth the fuss. 👍Anyone looking for a place that serves mouth-watering burgers in town should definitely try it out.😉

As I always say, "Food is my love language!"😄 And I believe a memorable eating-out experience is worth sharing, and a good recipe is worth passing on.
