One of the biggest concerns I have when I'm eating out is... whether the portions served will match the amount of money I'm paying for them. 🍲=💶❓🤔
It was no different when my sisters dropped by for a visit a few weeks ago. We were staying in a hotel in Amsterdam, and planned to explore as much of the city as possible in the few days we had together. That meant that we had little time for other things - such as grabbing a bite to eat.
However, we still wanted the meals we did have time for to be enjoyable and filling, and we hoped that we'd find a nice restaurant where we could get just that...
Thankfully, we came across Drover's Dog restaurant in Amsterdam. They have a couple of branches in different parts of the city, and as luck would have it, one of their branches is located a short walk away from the hotel we were staying in. 😃 Having eaten in the city centre on our first day of sightseeing - and having been disappointed by our meal - we were eager to try something different, and were hoping that it would turn out to be much better than our meal the day before had been.
Little did we know that we were in for a treat! 😋
We received a warm welcome as soon as we walked into Drover's Dog, and then we were shown to a vacant table. Menus were brought by soon after, and we took some time to browse through them.
We used the time between putting in our orders and being served to catch up. Although we talk to each other over the phone quite often, it's been about 7 years since the three of us were physically together, and the thought warmed our hearts. 👭❤😊
We also couldn't help but wonder whether our meals would be filling enough to get us through the rest of the day, as we were starving and we still had quite a bit to do before dinner time. Thankfully, we need not have worried, for our doubts were laid to rest as soon as our plates arrived.
We ended up having to pace ourselves as we ate, because there was so much to eat.😮We enjoyed our meals at The Dog - as it's sometimes referred to - so much, that we went back there the following day for brunch. We more or less placed the same orders, but Sandra & I switched meals, I also had a hot chocolate drink with whipped cream instead of English tea and she had fresh juice instead of coffee; Rachel stuck to her hot chocolate and Angus beef burger though.
In the course of our trips there, we formed a friendship with one of the staff members - a lovely lady from Australia who refused to tell us where the other Drover's Dog restaurants are located, so as to make sure we went back to that specific one. Lol! 😄
"The Dog" is high on my recommendation list to anyone visiting Amsterdam soon - not only because of the delicious food they serve, but also because of the high-quality service they give. You'll definitely find it to be a worthwhile treat, as well as a good choice if you're on the move - or if you just want good food in your belly. 😜😝
As I always say, "Food is my love language!"😄 And I believe a memorable eating-out experience is worth sharing, and a good recipe is worth passing on.
