I'm not a coffee lover, but I'm always fascinated by how simply and quickly my Italian housemate, Elena, makes her cup of coffee every morning. ☕
Many a time, I'm stirred from my sleep by the sweet-smelling aroma of the coffee she's brewing in the kitchen located right next to my room.
It's a well-known fact that Italians love to cook, and this same love for preparing their meals from scratch flows into making their coffee. Although the Moka pot used to do this is more popularly used on a stove back in Italy, Elena uses an electric Moka pot here in the Netherlands to make her coffee in the morning. The machine may look small, but it can make up to four cups of coffee in one go! What's more, making coffee using a Moka pot takes less than 5 minutes! 😯
What's not to love? 😃
She uses about 7-8 tea spoons of a brand of coffee called Lavazza, and less than 500ml of water. The water is poured into the bottom compartment of the Moka pot until it reaches the height of the valve. Afterwards, Elena plugs the electric pot into an electric socket and switches it on. Once the water boils, the pressure causes it to rise, mixing it with the coffee powder as it does so; and thus, the coffee is made. Pretty cool, huh? 😉
Elena then mixes the coffee with some milk, and it's ready to drink.☕
I thought it'd be nice to share this Italian-style coffee making process with all you coffee lovers out there. Hope you enjoy it! 😊
Have you come across any food/beverage-making process that you found fascinating?
As I always say, "Food is my love language!"😄 And I believe a memorable eating-out experience is worth sharing, and a good recipe is worth passing on.
