At first, I felt a mixture of anxiety and excitement at the sudden change of plans for the next 24 hours. But as time went by and we were soon boarding the plane - then landing in Paris Orly airport - excitement won the day, and I was rather looking forward to seeing Paris with my own eyes for the first time. 😃🎉
To this day, I'm quite impressed with all that we were able to do and see in the short time that we were there. I should mention that it helped a lot that Rachel had been there before, and knew her way around.
We started off at The Eiffel Tower, then went to Arc De Triomphe; then took a break and had a meal at Le Vin Coeur restaurant (see my Instagram for pictures) before going to our final destination of the day - Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
The following day we visited Musée du Louvre, and briefly stopped at L'Hotel de Ville before embarking on the journey back home.
One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't get to taste a French croissant while we were there, 😢 but the meals we had were scrumptious, and of course we had to have French macarons - which were just as nice a treat. 😋
Although there's still so much of Paris that I'd like to see, I hope to spend some time in the south of France as well the next time I visit. I hear it's much warmer there, and the food there is even better. 😉
Otherwise, it was a lovely first trip to France, and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
I hope you guys enjoy the pictures and the vlog. Let me know what you like most about them. 😉😊
P.S. Here are my "TOP TIPS for Travelling to Paris":
i) We found the weather in Paris in mid-May to be bearable. However, I'd advise you to carry a sweater or a light jacket with you when you go - just in case. It gets especially cold in the metro stations.
ii) If you're planning to use public transport while in Paris, your best bet is to buy a day travel ticket. They are sold at most - if not all - metro stations in the city for as little as 2 euros (depending on how far out you're planning to go).
iii) There's a wonderful restaurant called Le Vin Coeur on one of the streets close to Arc de Triomphe. The ambience there is so inviting, the food is delicious, and the prices affordable (especially for students). If you're stuck somewhere there and are in need of a bite to eat, don't be afraid to try it out! 😉
iv) Alternatively, buying snacks from the supermarket is not a bad idea. We bought some pastries from Lidl which were sooo good! Plus it saved us a bit of money, too.
v) In case you can't afford to fly to and/or from Paris, consider travelling by coach. I know there are a number of sceptics when it comes to coach. But although it takes longer than a flight does, it's actually quite comfortable & a bit more affordable; and depending on how far you're going, the driver occasionally stops for at least a half-hour break. It also helps if you're travelling with someone else. They make the journey feel much shorter.👫👭👬
I hope this helps! 😊
I find it easier and more effective to write down how I feel rather than to say it.
